T13:

Multi-Robot Systems

presenters:

  • Gal Kaminka

This tutorial will examine the emerging area of multi-robot systems, which synthesizes insights and developments in autonomous agents, multi-agent systems, and robotics. The tutorial will introduce agents researchers to the fertile research ground that is created when techniques from multi-agent systems are applied to robotics, and robots challenge assumptions made in multi-agent systems. It will highlight key areas of success as well as open challenges for multi-agent systems research, and discuss the methodology of doing research in multi-agent robotic systems. The tutorial is intended for general AAMAS audience.

Gal Kaminka is a senior lecturer at Bar Ilan University, and an adjunct assistant professor at Carnegie Mellon University. At Bar Ilan, he leads the MAVERICK research group, which conducts research in autonomous agents, multi-agent systems, and robotics. In recent years, his research focuses on exploring the synergy between robotics and multi-agent systems, in particular focusing on the challenges that are raised in novel applications of multi-agent systems techniques in robotics.
