Virtual Agents (Chairs: Stefan Kopp and Catherine Pelachaud)

The Virtual Agents track gathers papers on research topics related to the design, implementation, evaluation and application of virtual agents. Such agents are simulated in 3D computer graphics and emulate autonomous human-like behavior in social interaction or simulated task-based environments. Applications of this technology range from social assistants on mobile devices, to pedagogical agents in tutoring systems, to non-player characters in interactive games or multimodal interface agents for smart appliances and environments. The goal of the virtual agents track is to provide an opportunity for continued interaction and cross-fertilization between the AAMAS community and researchers working on virtual agents and to strengthen links between the two communities.

We welcome papers that present novel work and contributions on virtual agent systems, human(s)-agent(s) interaction, and evaluations or applications of such systems. Submissions can address innovative and challenging issues in fundamental issues such as behavioral or cognitive models for autonomous virtual agents, as well as new usage and applications.
